My passion for fishing began at a very young age thanks to my dad, Woodrow Penrod. In the mid 1950's, my parents purchased a lake front cabin on Jonathon Creek. My dad and his brothers, Ed and Gibby Penrod, took me out on an old Army landing barge with a 7.5 hp. Evinrude motor and a long-handled, sculling paddle. Back then, we had to learn where the drops, road beds, and flats were located. Today, I still use the same techniques. The only difference is I have the benefits of using electronics with way points to see if the fish are in the area.
Though much has changed over the years, I am still doing what I love the most -fishing and spending time with my family. After my retirement, I moved back to Jonathon Creek with my wife, Patty, and established a fishing guide business.
I am on the lake over 200 days out of the year. When not fishing, I am putting out fish attractors with my buddies.
If you are planning a family vacation or just need a break for the weekend, I invite you to join me on the lake. There is nothing finer than enjoying the beauty of Kentucky Lake and seeing a big smile on a child's face when he/she catches that first fish.
